Many business owners struggle with what to give away, if anything when marketing their businesses.  Printed bookmarks make great giveaways because they are CHEAP!  Well, that is one of the reasons, the other reason they make such great giveaways is because people keep them.  If they keep what you give them, they are much more likely to be able to contact you again, which is what marketing pieces are about right?

What if  you donated bookmarks to the local school that helped small children with their times tables, how to write the alphabet properly, had the alphabet with pictures to help "the little ones" remember the sounds or about anything else you can think of that kids need help remembering when they are in school.  Don't forget to include a small marketing message about with your information on it!

If you, as a local business owner either donated them, or passed them around the local neighborhood, do you think "mom" wouldn't keep it around simply because it makes her job easier?  I am a mother of five children, the oldest two in college and the youngest in Kindergarten.  I would absolutely keep something useful like that around if it came my way….key term being USEFUL.

When you think about your next marketing "give away", think about the prospect you are giving it away to and if it is something that is "about them" and that they will find useful or it is "about you" and your marketing message.  It's the little things people tend to remember and the thoughtful things that people keep around.
